The heart of the new MacPack Combo backpack is the new MacPack Shell. It's the lightest backpack we have ever produced due to new, lighter, more durable materials and new uses of older materials.
The Shell measures 18" x 13" x 3.5" for a mind blowing 819 CUBIC inches of interior space.
At 3.5" deep, the New MacPack is almost the same thickness as one of our BriefCases. This translates into minimal bulk, easy wearablity, and outstanding comfort.
If you already own a MacCase Sleeve and want to add to a new Combo backpack, the MacPack Shell is available to purchase separately.
The New MacPack Combo backpack works exclusively with MacCase Sleeves. Our Sleeves use a very dense foam wrapped in our proprietary "Pure Silver" Aluminum nylon fabric that perfectly matches the exterior of the NEW MacPack.
Like all MacPacks, the new Combo backpack features our "Tilt Away" compartment opening. The main compartments angled zipper allows the compartment to fold open and away giving the easiest possible access to your computer and other contents.
The MacCase Sleeve indexes into the rear compartments back wall providing a safe, secure environment for transport.
A webbing strap secures the lower third of the Sleeve to the pack minimizing movement during transport.
The Front Compartment features 9 separate pockets (4 mesh, 5 fabric) for pens, a cell phone, drives, media, a mouse, a small camera, keys and an iPod pouch with a handy ear-bud pass through.
The Front Compartment also features twin zippers, opening up more than 75% of the Compartment for industry leading access to your stuff.
The entire floor of the new MacPack backpack is padded so items can be placed in the either compartment and still be protected.
The Front Compartment features a center pocket specifically designed for the iPod. (All models will fit.)
The headphone cable snakes from the Front Compartment, through the vertical pass-through into the Rear Compartment
then exits the Rear Compartment right behind your head. No cables or wires hanging all over the place. Nothing to catch or pull. Nothing to worry about. Simple, clean, elegant, functional design from MacCase.
There is a foam over composite structure in the rear panel that the shoulder straps are sewn directly into. So when you pick up the pack by the straps your'e picking it up by the structure, not the fabric.
The shoulder straps are extended for extra coverage and the inside surface is covered with a "sticky" fabric to prevent slipping.
The padded area features a breathable mesh cover that allows air to circulate around and through the point of contact with your body, a feature usually only found on "high-end" climbing packs.
